Wizdomick! Post-Mystery Trip

 We had a marvelous Mystery Trip with our 08 Rite-13'rs to Navajoland in Utah.  Our group stayed with our new friends at St. Mary's in the Moonlight, Ojeto.  We explored Monument Valley, Goose Neck, Canyon de Chelly and Hovenweep.  IWe even were spread out across four states at the Four Corners monument.  We cooked and prayed and played for 5 days.  We learned alot about each other's tastes and some of us learned how to do the dishes.  The 'monumental' moment can be seen here.  Photographs are available in the album to your right, more to be added later.

If you have not already done so, be sure to turn in your 'default permission form' (in a column on the right) with medical insurance information and a photograph.

Faith in 3D: January at Disneyworld?!

Passport/Mission Exchange is a phenomenal program of camps, mission and opportunities for faithful adventure coordinated jointly by the Episcopal Church, Community Fellowship Baptists (progressive Baptist denom.) and the Presbyeterians.  They just sent me information about a MLK weekend program called FAITH IN 3D at disneyworld for all 6-12th graders.  The total cost would be around $500 each, but I am sure it would be worth the work and the money.  If any families of next year's youth are interested let me know by mid summer.

Auction and Breakfast Thanks!

A huge thanks and a bundle of praise to all the teens and families that helped make the auction and breakfast happen.  We raised nearly $3000 for our excursions this summer.  Yall rock.

Emails will be going out this week with packing lists.  A few deposits are still outstanding; and we also need DEFAULT OUT OF TOWN PERMISSION FORMS (to your right on the blog) for ALL TEENS AND ADULTS.  These forms must also include copies of medical insurance cards and a photo or photo id.  :)

Pilgrimage Auction and Breakfast

Pilgrimage is a core practice of our youth ministry programs. It flows out of the Rite 13 liturgy and toward the process of Confirmation. Supporting our youth program today helps promise a youth program for the future.

Our Journey youth are hoping to make a pilgrimage to DC this summer. We need your help to make this journey. Please join us for worship and for a Silent Auction and Breakfast.   

All R13 and Journey Youth need to be at the Cathedral by 7:30 on Sunday Morning the 4th of May.  Parents are also needed.

We would like to celebrate our high school graduates this spring at the 9am Eucharist on June 1. If a teen in your home is graduating from high school please contact us as soon as possible with the following information. Be seen, Be Heard, Be Hungry!

On April 25 and 26, teens from across the Diocese of the Rio Grande will gather at the Cathedral Church of St. John to “be seen, be heard, Be Hungry” during the 30-Hour Famine for World Vision. The 30-Hour Famine is an international youth movement to fight hunger. From 12:00 on Friday through

6:00 pm, Saturday, 30 hours, the teens will fast to earn funds that will go to help feed the least, the lost, the hungry and the poor in God’s Kingdom. Why 30 hours? It takes about 30 hours of fasting for most westerners to feel the hunger that most of the world’s poor feel all the time. 

The youth will spend the time in community service at places like Joy Junction, the Roadrunner Food Bank and other area service projects. Please pledge generously when you are approached by the youth and pray for us as we seek to be God’s hands and feet on the earth. Rite 13 Joys

Thanks and blessings to all the Rite 13 class families and to the Eatons for hosting a lovely brunch this past Sunday.  Please be sure to keep an eye on the Mystery Trip dates and deposit ($75.00 due May 1). 

Spirit of God Pentecost Writing Contest

Take a look at this writing contest about Pentecost and the state of the world.  What can the divine wind, spirit, breath and energy of Pentecost inspire us to do in the cause of justice and peace?  Maybe we can have a contest of our own.  Hmm.

Journey Pilgrimage Fundraiser Breakfasts and Auction

Join us this Sunday (APRIL 6) between services for a hot breakfast between services.  All proceeds will go towards our DC Pilgrimage for our J2A Teens this summer.  Please come and donate generously.  We need to raise around $5000 to cover most of the costs for 6 teens and three adults. 

Then on MAY 4TH we will have another hot breakfast AND A SILENT AUCTION.  Silent auction items to donate might include 

gift baskets, wine, holiday items, children’s items, gift certificates, artwork, arts or sports tickets, dinners and vacation cabin time
